Prepare your project brief

Start with an idea or a finished specification. A short brief connects your intended result to the available materials, constraints and questions for the team.

Describe the intended result

Use your own words. Mark decisions that are still open instead of assuming you must supply a complete technical specification.

  • Purpose and audience.
  • Channels and intended use.
  • Files, formats, duration and delivery versions.

Record what already exists

List the source materials and their readiness. Distinguish confirmed rights information from points that still need checking.

  • Idea, references, text, demo, audio, footage, images or data.
  • Target date, budget range and dependencies.
  • Approvers and known restrictions.

Keep a draft on your own device

This is a text guide, not a submission form. Write your draft in a document on your own device; this page does not save or send it.

Leave out passwords, personal data, contracts and confidential documents. Review the text before contacting the team and agree a separate channel for any materials.
